The DEI Module connects to the door lock / unlock outputs from the aftermarket alarm, remote starter or keyless entry or remote start system CPU. The Interface Module will then convert these CPU outputs into known signals that can be understood by the vehicle's Data Bus System. The Interface Module's output is a one-wire connection to the vehicle's data bus wire at the Diagnostics Connector, located at the bottom of the dash with a cover on it., on the driver's side.

DEI Interface modules will save installation time of otherwise having to remove inner door panels, and sometimes adding relays, to make traditional wire connections inside individual doors.
